On March 5, 2026, Managing Principal Steve Cornelius gave a presentation on “Ethical Issues for Employment Lawyers” at the annual Employment Law Institute, put on by the Labor and Employment Law Section of the Maryland State Bar Association (“MSBA”).  See  https://www.msba.org/site/site/rise/Events/Event_display.aspx?EventKey=ELI2026.  The full day program took place at the Doubletree in Columbia, Maryland, and was attended in-person by over 100 practitioners (a recorded version was also made available on-demand).  The panel of speakers included attorneys, professors, judges, and representatives from government agencies, and the program explored recent developments in employment law, as well as practical guidance on litigating employment cases.

Steve’s presentation was focused upon Maryland Bar Complaints and Attorney Grievance Commission (“AGC”) matters, including ethical challenges faced by employment law practitioners.  This included discussion of privacy and confidentiality considerations, risk management with the use of artificial intelligence (“AI”) technologies particular to employment, preservation of evidence tips and strategies, the rise of motions for disqualification, and the interplay of various Maryland Rules of Professional Conduct (“MRPC”) for employment lawyers.
